The master’s degree programs are offered through The University of Scranton College of Graduate and Continuing Education. Students are assigned to one of the following classifications at the time of admission:
- Regular Admission. Applicants are admitted under this category when they have satisfied the admissions criteria of both the College of Graduate and Continuing Education and the department or program in which they are to enroll for graduate studies.
- Probationary Admission. There are two categories of probationary admission: One is related to overall qualifications and one is related to transcripts. Applicants who do not meet all of the criteria for Regular Admission but who show reasonable promise for success in graduate studies may be accepted on a probationary basis. Applicants admitted in this status must complete nine hours of specified course work within the first 12 hours of graduate study. Students accepted on probation may take a maximum of three credits per session (until the conditions of probation are satisfied) and must complete the prescribed nine hours of specific course work with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. Failure to accomplish this will result in dismissal from the program.
- Applicants must submit official degree-granting transcripts and copies of all other transcripts. If an applicant cannot produce copies of non-degree-bearing transcripts, we will consider for probationary admit if the official degree-granting transcript provides evidence of attendance at all previous universities.
- Applicants may be admitted on probation with the understanding that they:
- May not be permitted to continue (dismissed) if their overall grade point average is below the minimum required grade point average
- Will only be permitted to take one core course in the first term
- Must submit all missing official transcripts by Thursday of the seventh week of class
- Will not be permitted to take any additional courses unless all required documents are received
